Lil’ Nas X has become the first out gay performer to win a Country Music Association (CMA) Award.

The 20-year old artist received his CMA in the “Musical Event of the Year” category, sharing the prize with collaborator Billy Ray Cyrus for their remix of “Old Town Road.” Their song spent 20 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

Adam Lambert is happy to see more LGBTQ artists finding success

NEW YORK (AP) | Adam Lambert, who rose on the music scene as the runner-up on “America Idol” in 2009, says he’s happy to see more mainstream LGBTQ artists find major success.

“I think it’s less taboo to be queer in the music industry now because there’s so many cases you can point to like, ‘Oh, it worked for him. It worked for her.’ I think 10 years ago, it was a lot different,” Lambert said in a recent interview. “Ten years ago, it was kind of like no one really knew. And I met a lot of amazing people in the industry — executives, people, publicists, marketing people — who on a personal level were cool with me and totally open, but didn’t understand how this was going to work in mainstream America, or the world for that matter.”

Lil Nas X releases new video for ‘Panini’

Breakout musician Lil Nas X released the music video for his single “Panini,” in which he shows how hyper-aware he is of his own popularity.

With his song “Old Town Road” spending a record-breaking 19 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, Lil Nas X knows that he is everywhere in media now. Lil Nas X came out as gay in June, making the point that artists should be able to come out at any time — even when at the top of the charts.

Lil Nas X explained why he came out while having the no. 1 song in the U.S. to the panel of guests, which included comedian Kevin Hart, on the HBO series, “The Shop.”

“For me, the cool dude with the song on top of everything to say this, any other time I’m doing this for attention in my eyes, but if you doing this when you are at the top, you know it’s like for real,” said the “Old Town Road” singer.

Taylor Swift accepts ‘Video of the Year’ at VMAs with drag performers

Taylor Swift opened MTV’s 2019 Video Music Awards on Monday with a performance of her pro-LGBTQ anthem “You Need to Calm Down” which ultimately won Video of the Year, the biggest award of the night.

Swift performed the song along with bestie Todrick Hall and a slew of drag performers who also performed with Miley Cyrus during her 2015 VMAs performance of “Dooo It.” Swift later slowed things down with her first live performance of the single “Lover.”

Lil Nas X’s ‘Old Town Road’ breaks Billboard chart record

Lil Nas X’s hit single “Old Town Road” is now the longest-running number-one single in the 61-year history of Billboard’s Hot 100.

“Old Town Road” has spent 17 weeks at number one outlasting “One Sweet Day” by Mariah Carey and Boys II Men (1995-1996) and “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber (2017), which tied for the record at 16 weeks.

Lil Nas X is among the most-nominated artists for the 2019 MTV Music Video Awards with eight nominations.

The 20-year-old “country trap” artist, who recently came out as gay, received nominations for his breakout hit single “Old Town Road” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus. The video received nominations for Song of the Year, Video of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Hip Hop, Best Direction, Best Editing and Best Art Direction. Lil Nas X also is nominated for the Best New Artist category.
