Quite aside from our traditional definitions of masculinity within an institutionalized top-down order, we have built our own prejudices into our supposedly diverse LGBTQ community. The striations inherent in our growing acronym are still built upon prejudices in which some of us eff while others of us get effed.

In our case, it’s literal. As a totem to the wider society, the idea of effing versus getting effed is as much an idea as it is its own reality. For the most powerful among us, simply grabbing another’s genitals or exposing one’s own is its best own display of power: simply hinting that the power gradients are so ingrained in our social order is enough to reify that order.

Florida adoption discrimination bill moves to the next level

The Florida House’s Health & Human Service Committee voted to pass the Conscience Protection for Private Child-Placing Agencies which would allow private adoption agencies to deny someone from adopting based on religious or moral convictions.

The committee of 12 Republicans and 6 Democrats heard arguments from agencies and private citizens before taking up the vote.

Dr. Phillips Center reveals ‘Name a Seat’ campaign for the Walt Disney Theater

Orlando – The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts announced its new campaign—“Name a Seat.” It allows supporters to become a permanent part of the center and make a lasting impact.

Supporters that participate in this campaign will have their names engraved on a plaque that will be attached to one of the many seats in the Walt Disney Theater. Supporters can pick which level they wish to have a seat named, and they will receive confirmation where that seat is located in that section. The nameplate will remain through 2025 or as long as the seats remain in the theater.
