Tammy Baldwin wins re-election to U.S. Senate

Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.) won re-election Nov. 6 to her seat representing Wisconsin in the U.S. Senate, becoming the first out lesbian and openly LGBT person to win re-election to the upper chamber of Congress.

CBS News declared Baldwin, a Democrat, the winner over her Republican opponent, State Sen. Leah Vukmir, shortly after polls closed in Wisconsin at 8 pm local time.

Poll: Tammy Baldwin in dead heat with GOP opponent in Wis. Senate race

A new poll from Marquette University shows Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.) in a dead heat with her Republican challenger Leah Vukmir, showing a tightening race as Election Day approaches.

The poll from Marquette University Law School finds a plurality of 49 percent likely Wisconsin voters supporter, but Vukmir is two points behind in the race at 47 percent.

Leah Vukmir emerges as Tammy Baldwin’s opponent

When the smoke of the Wisconsin primary cleared on Tuesday night, one thing became clear: The opponent of Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.) in November will be State Sen. Leah Vukmir (R-Milwaukee County).

In a primary with the Steve Bannon-backed Kevin Nicholson, Vukmir — the established candidate backed by the state Republican Party machine — won a plurality of 49 percent of the vote compared to the 42 percent Nicholson won.

Parents of GOP candidate give max donation to Tammy Baldwin’s campaign

The parents of a Republican candidate running for Senate have given a generous donation to a political campaign but the recipient wasn’t their son’s political party.

GOP candidate Kevin Nicholson is running against Leah Vukmir for the Republican ticket in Wisconsin. The winner will take on Democrat Sen. Tammy Baldwin for a seat in the Senate.
