LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) | A Louisiana library’s plans to host a “Drag Queen Story Hour” have led to sometimes tense debates at local government meetings.

The Lafayette Public Library’s Board of Control heard from opponents and supporters of the planned Oct. 6 program.

Indiana city adopts transgender anti-discrimination protections

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) – The Lafayette City Council has approved anti-discrimination protections for transgender people.

The (Lafayette) Journal & Courier reports council members voted unanimously Sept. 6 to add gender identity, age and veteran status to the list of protections in the city’s human relations ordinance. The ordinance already covered complaints about housing, employment and accommodations based on race, sex, religion, color, disability, familial status and national origin.
