Palestinian authorities have banned an LGBTI advocacy group from holding events in the West Bank.

AlQaws for Sexual and Gender Diversity in Palestinian Society in a statement it posted to its Twitter page said Louay Arzeikat, a spokesperson for the Palestinian Civil Police Force, on Saturday stated authorities “would prohibit any event organized or held by alQaws for Gender and Sexual Diversity in Palestinian Society.”

Activists have sharply criticized the passage of a bill in the Israeli Knesset that prevents gay couples from using surrogates.

The Jerusalem Post reported the bill passed on Wednesday by a 59-52 vote.

Social conservatives thank Trump at White House for anti-LGBT policy

A host of anti-LGBT leaders met with the President Trump on Monday afternoon to thank him for keeping his promises from Election 2016, including his administration’s actions against LGBT people.

The meeting at the White House was timed with Trump recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel — a move long sought by social conservatives that many leaders in the international community have warned is dangerous.

Jerusalem (AP) — Israeli police say an extremist ultra-Orthodox Jewish man in prison for a deadly attack on last year’s annual Jerusalem gay pride march has plotted another attack on this year’s march.

Police spokeswoman Luba Samri said July 21 that police thwarted the plot by Yishai Schlissel and arrested his brother, Michael, as an accomplice.

Nir Barkat says in an interview published July 20 that the gay community has the right to march but that the pride event is also “troublesome” to others in the city.

Israeli Pride parade cancelled amid concerns of violence

Jerusalem (AP) — Gay activists have canceled what was to be the first gay pride march in the Israeli city of Beersheba after Israel’s Supreme Court restricted the event’s route due to concerns of violence.

Organizers sought to march down a main thoroughfare in the city on July 14 but the court said police intelligence assessments indicated the possibility of violence. It said there could be life-threatening violence against participants, and also that participants could contribute to violence in an effort to defend themselves.

Jerusalem gay pride parade attacker given life sentence

Jerusalem (AP) – A Jerusalem court on June 26 sentenced a radical ultra-Orthodox Israeli Jew who fatally stabbed a teenage girl at a gay pride parade last year to life in prison plus 31 years.

Jerusalem’s District Court had already convicted Yishai Schlissel for the murder of 16-year-old Shira Banki and the attempted murder of seven others.

Tel Aviv pride parade attracts 200,000

TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — Colorfully-dressed drag queens and bare-chested muscular men on floats partied alongside thousands of others from the LGBT community at Tel Aviv’s annual gay pride parade on June 3, the largest event of its kind in the Middle East.

Israeli media reported that 200,000 people joined the festivities.
