L.A. muralist paints Freddie Mercury on side of Floyd’s in Mills/50

ORLANDO | Jonas Never, an artist and muralist from Los Angeles, brought his art skills to Central Florida to paint a pair of murals of cultural icons on the outside walls of two Floyd’s 99 Barbershops in Orlando.

Never painted a large mural of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury at the Mills/50 Floyd’s 99 located at 842 N Mills Ave.

Clawdeena is the name of a Monster High doll, but to the 19-year-old YouTube sensation who shares that name, it’s more. It’s the name that allows her to confidently express her true self in her day-to-day life.

Clawdeena created her feminine alter-ego after finding a love for recreating her doll’s looks and a passion for entertaining others. At first, being a 14-year-old with a love for makeup who had a father as a pastor and mother as an ordained minister was a tough situation.

Janet Jackson announces Las Vegas residency

Janet Jackson is now the latest pop star to embark on a Las Vegas residency.

Jackson announced that her new show “Metamorphosis” will take place at Park MGM’s Park Theater for 15 dates starting on May 17. The show will be “peeling back the layers of the immensely private life of Janet Jackson, sharing her transformation from a young girl with issues of self-esteem to global Icon” and include a “special 30-year anniversary celebration of her ground-breaking album Rhythm Nation,” according to the announcement.

Street artist Plastic Jesus created the art piece titled “Hollow Apology” which features Hart as a gold statue holding a rainbow flag.

Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld dies at 85

Karl Lagerfeld, creative designer of Chanel and Fendi for over twenty years, died early in the morning on Feb. 19 after weeks of battling an unspecified illness.

His death was announced from the designer’s personal Instagram account.

Gay Muslim comic gone from Instagram after Indonesia warning

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) | An Instagram account that published comic strips depicting the struggles of gay Muslims in Indonesia has disappeared from the site following a frenzy of moral outrage online in the world’s biggest Muslim nation.

The Ministry of Communications said Feb. 13 that the account under the username Alpatuni was pornographic, which violated the law on information and electronic transactions. In a statement it said Instagram had “fulfilled” its request made in a warning letter for the account to be removed.

Celebrities express support and outrage after attack of ‘Empire’ star Jussie Smollett

The recent attack of “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett has sparked an outpouring of support and concern from celebrities on social media.

According to Chicago Police, Jussie was found with a rope around his neck and had bleach thrown at him, as well as having racial and homophobic slurs yelled at him. He was immediately hospitalized after the incident.

Ice dancers Karina Manta and Joseph Johnson made history as the first LGBT duo to compete in the U.S. Figure Skating Championship which took place in Detroit over the weekend.

The duo skated to “Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)” earning 104.81 points and finishing in seventh place overall.
