“Pose” star Indya Moore is the first transgender woman to land the cover of Elle Magazine. The actress and model appears on the cover of Elle’s June 2019 issue.

The 24-year-old told Elle that her parents were confused when she was assigned male at birth but acted feminine as a child.

‘Pose’ season two gets June premiere date

“Pose,” the groundbreaking LGBTQ series about New York City’s underground ballroom scene, will return for its sophomore season on Sunday, June 9 on FX.

According to showrunner Ryan Murphy, the 10-episode second season will have a time jump from the late 1980s to 1990 around the time Madonna’s “Vogue” was released. The House of Evangelista will have to readjust as the ballroom scene moves from underground to mainstream.

Much of the power of FX’s landmark series “Pose” comes from its factual basis. Although fictional, much of what is seen happened in 1980s New York in black and Latinx gay culture.

Making its debut during PaleyFest, Executive Producer Ryan Murphy moderated a panel, acknowledging the blend between fiction and reality.

Campaign urges ‘courageous conversations’ during holiday season

The National Black Justice Coalition, a D.C.-based civil rights organization that advocates for black LGBT people, issued a statement last week calling for “courageous and life-saving conversations during the holiday season” to help curtail bias and stigma faced by LGBT people of color.

In its Dec. 12 statement NBJC pointed to two recent developments that highlight what it called the stigma and bigotry LGBT people, especially black LGBT people, continue to face that sometimes surface in the popular media.

Come Out With Pride announces its week-long schedule of events for Pride 2018

ORLANDO | Come Out With Pride (COWP) announced its schedule of events at its 2018 Big Reveal at Tin Roof Orlando July 30. COWP will extend its official events from the traditional three-day weekend to a full week of events.

COWP’s week-long series of events will take place throughout Orlando Oct. 8-14. Several community leaders took the stage at the Big Reveal to make the announcements.
