CVS accused of releasing patients’ HIV status

In a little-noticed development, three HIV-positive residents of Ohio on March 22 filed a class action lawsuit against the CVS pharmacy and healthcare company for what they claim was its “unauthorized public disclosure” of their HIV status and the HIV status of over 6,000 others in Ohio in July and August of 2017.

The three residents, saying they wish to protect their privacy, filed the lawsuit under the names John Doe One, John Doe Two, and John Doe Three before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.

ORLANDO | The Metropolitan Business Association celebrated 25 years, as well as the recognition of being named the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce’s Chamber of the Year, at their annual Pride Gala Business Awards for 2017 at the Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando Nov. 4.

The community was dressed to the nines as they honored the best in LGBTQ business in Central Florida.

Metro Wellness and Community Centers finalizes building purchase

metro wellnessMetro Wellness and Community Centers are officially home owners as Metropolitan Charities, Inc. in partnership with Comprehensive Care Centers, Inc. closed on the purchase of the 47,000 square feet St. Petersburg location April 20.

The purchase will allow Metro to expand from their current use of 18,000 square feet to nearly 30,000 square feet. The added 12,000 square feet will accommodate additional intake, exam and treatment rooms for Metro’s many medical and clinical services. In addition, they will utilize some of the space to expand the community center rooms as well.

Headdress Ball raises more than $500,000 dollars for AIDS charity

Orlando – Glitzy costumes, circus acts, colorful lasers and nonstop entertainment were the highlights of the 2013 Headdress Ball, which drew 1,000 people to the Hilton Orlando to raise money for the Hope and Help Center of Central Florida, Inc.

And raise money they did – more than $500,000 this year, which set a new record. In black ties and gowns, some donning masks for the masquerade theme, attendees on Oct. 26 opened their wallets and gave money for tickets at $300 a pop, live and silent auctions and dancers who accepted $5, $10 and $20 bills in their g-strings.
