After apology, Azealia Banks doubles down on homophobia

In what might be described as a social media whirlwind over the last few days, controversial rapper Azealia Banks has apologized for one homophobic rant, before sending out a new one in a post that teased her retirement from music altogether.

It started in October, when the 28-year-old Banks posted a video on Instagram in which she called out queer singer Frank Ocean a “dumbass n****” for launching a club event called “PrEP+” and implied that gay men use the drug as an excuse for promiscuous behavior.

Iggy Azalea pauses Chicago Pride show to speak on trans equality

“I really want to say something important. Because we’re all here for a reason, right?” the 28-year-old Australian rapper addressed the crowd.

“I don’t want us to forget the meaning of Pride or why we came here,” she continued. “To a lot of people, you guys are still invisible and you have to fight every day just to be who you are. That’s why we’ve gotta be here tonight because we gotta be loud as f—. This shows you exist and you are valid.”

Iggy Azalea cancels gay pride performance

PITTSBURGH (AP) – Iggy Azalea has canceled a performance at a Pittsburgh gay pride event after being criticized for making anti-gay and racist remarks on social media.

The 25-year-old Australian rapper known for the hit single “Fancy” said June 8 her planned appearance at Pittsburgh Pride would distract from the event.
