Leaders behind LGBTQ measure shut political action committee

BOISE, Idaho (AP) | A group that has long pushed for Idaho lawmakers to pass legislation to protect lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people from employment and housing discrimination has shuttered its political action committee.

The PAC was terminated in June because organizers are currently working to broaden the group’s platform and change the name, said Chelsea Gaona-Lincoln, the chair of Idaho’s Add the Words.

25 gay rights activists arrested in Idaho Capitol protest

Boise, Idaho (AP) – Gay rights activists once again returned to the Idaho Capitol to protest lawmakers’ refusal to pass anti-discrimination protections, this time by refusing to leave the state’s bill-drafting offices.

Idaho State Police made 25 arrests, including six people who were arrested twice, March 16 for trespassing in the Statehouse. Protesters staged three different demonstrations March 16.

23 demonstrators arrested during protest at Idaho Senate and House chambers

Boise (AP) – Police arrested roughly two dozen gay rights activists March 2 after protesters refused to leave the Idaho Senate and House chambers in an attempt to pressure lawmakers into passing anti-discrimination protections.

Idaho State Police said they arrested 23 people on suspicion of misdemeanor trespassing, two of whom were juveniles.

Gay rights activists arrested at Idaho Senate

BOISE, Idaho (AP) – Police have arrested dozens of gay rights activists, saying their protest blocked entrances to the Idaho Senate chambers for more than two hours.

Idaho State Police say they took 43 people into custody Feb. 3 after the demonstrators stood shoulder to shoulder and prevented lawmakers from getting past.
