Dandy Darkly’s Myth Mouth! coming to St. Matthew’s Tavern!

Dandy Darkly is New York City’s cult storytelling sensation with a masterful and mesmerizing style of immersive alt-cabaret storytelling that has astounded critics and delighted audiences at Fringe festivals and theaters across the globe.

“Simply one of the most thoughtful, hilarious and harrowing queer talents at work today.” ★★★★★ (Scotsgay Magazine)

Dandy is the glittery, ghastly jewel of New York’s East Village with four years of critically acclaimed, satirical solo shows tackling such varied topics as gun violence, misogyny, gentrification and political correctness. Dandy Darkly’s delirious delivery shifts seamlessly between the horrific and poignant with thoughtful rumination on modern life.

“Stories of gruesomely compelling verve — a cross between Pam Ayres, Liberace and Tales from the Crypt.” ★★★★ (The Scotsman)

Dandy Darkly’s Myth Mouth! explores themes of religion, addiction and social media obsession via satirical tales concerning a junkie Persephone, space-pup Laika, virtual reality fixation and humanity’s premiere popinjay, Cha-Cha the Caveman. Dandy Darkly cites the works of folklorist Joseph Campbell, recent celebrity deaths, his childhood love of mythology and personal struggles with substance abuse as influences for crafting Dandy Darkly’s Myth Mouth!

“A decidedly wicked storyteller.” (New York Times)

Dandy regales his wondrous tales of humanity and horror alongside a nonstop soundscape of prerecorded music composed by long time collaborators Adam Tendler (piano), Rachel Blumberg (percussion), and Bryce Edwards (bass guitar). The show is peppered with eclectic sound effects to create a truly immersive storytelling experience. Ian Bjorklund returns as director.

“Fantastical fairytale horror, equal parts Tennessee Williams, Edgar Allen Poe and Bruce LaBruce with a dash of Brothers Grimm for good measure.” ★★★★ (Time Out)
”Brilliantly written — like something Joseph Campbell, Kenneth Anger and Paul Lynde would concoct after passing around a gourd filled with shrooms.” (The Villager Newspaper)

Dandy Darkly’s Myth Mouth! is presented by Christian Kelty at St. Matthew’s Tavern (1300 North Mills Ave.) Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased in advance at www.orlandofringe.org. Showtimes are: Thursday, May 18th at 8:30 pm; Saturday, May 20th at 6:00 pm; Monday, May 22nd at 8:30 pm; Wednesday, May 24th at 6:30 pm; Friday, May 26th at 10:30 pm; Saturday, May 27th at 3:30 pm and Sunday, May 28th at 9:00 pm.

Patrick Stewart, Anton Yelchin, Alia Shawkat, Imogen Poots

Meaning: kill the band, but in a way that makes it look like an accident, or their own fault.
