SALT LAKE CITY (AP) – Jason Langlois and Will Bladh are in the early stages of making plans for their summer 2017 wedding, and they don’t want their excitement pierced by the pain of being rejected by a venue, florist and photographer who have a legal right in Utah to refuse to serve a gay couple.

That’s why they joined several hundred people March 6 at a gay and lesbian wedding expo in Salt Lake City aimed at connecting couples with businesses who want to make it known they’re open to doing same-sex weddings.

tech data gay lgbt workforce inclusiveEven as we mourn the loss of a common-sense protection bill, the Competitive Workforce Act, earlier this week in the legislature, some companies are keeping up the compassion and moving forward with the shifting economic playing field. Yesterday, the Tampa Bay Business Journal reported on Tech Data’s new in-house initiative called Spectrum, “an employee resource group for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender workers and allies,” the Journal reports. It is reportedly the 14th Florida business to do so,  basically because modern businesses need to court modern talent, and much of that is LGBT if not just LGBT-friendly.

Equality Florida CEO Nadine Smith was in attendance as the keynote speaker for the meeting and offered her own wisdom on the issue.

And the Winners are …
TheBroadWayWorld.com results are in, and several LGBT and LGBT friendly performers were on the top of the list as the winners. Fuck me gently with a chainsaw! The multi-talented, Blue Star for the Best Choreography (Professional) for the popular Heathers: the Musical. Kenny Howard also won best Direction of a Musical (Professional) for Heathers: the Musical – Lick it up, baby. Lick it up! Heathers: the Musical was based on the black comedy, teen-angst ridden film from the ‘80s that starred Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. Kenny also won Best Direction of a Play (Professional) for The Flick – both shows were performed at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts and were locally produced.

Baring it all!
It’s been recently announced that one of the most risqué annual art exhibits has found a new home. Traditionally, Valentine’s Day is a time for lovers, but even if you’re single, you’d be certainly guaranteed to get an eyeful of the artistic expressions of the nude form. Nude Nite returns, and it will be hosted Artegon Marketplace, home of various shops featuring local artisans, so this certainly feels like a great fit. Located on the north end of I-Drive, the new location not only offers a leak proof roof, but also bountiful and secure parking. (Not commonly found in previous Nude Nites). If you would like to participate, there is still a call for live artists as well. Nude Nite Orlando, will run from February 11-13; tickets are on sale now and often sell out! There’s also a Nude Nite Tampa coming in March.

Finally, finally, Kentucky Clerk of Courts Kim Davis ends her 15 minutes of fame. She went out by apparently exaggerating her “meeting” with Pope Francis. Davis’ anti-gay attorney says it was a cozy one-on-one, the Pope’s camp said, nuh-uh! Just a meet-and-greet.

Former Exodus International pariah Alan Chambers releases his autobiography My Exodus, a curiously self-congratulatory collection of memories of not really being honest. Atonement is cute.

Here’s a lesson in new media: if you’re going to be so committed to bigotry that you create a website talking all about your bigoted ways, you’ll want to remember to renew your domain name.

Pastor Randy Bryson of Open Door Baptist Church in Easley, S.C. learned that one the hard way, when he forgot to renew his hate group’s domain name… and a gay rights activist seized the opportunity to buy the domain and redirect the website to a hardcore gay porn site.
