Planned Parenthood Florida begins providing transgender hormone therapy

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) | Planned Parenthood is now offering hormone therapy and other services for transgender patients in Florida, starting with two health centers in Miami this week. It plans to expand statewide within the year.

The services could help a patient who, for example, was born as a female and still has female organs but identifies as male. Oral, topical and injectable hormones would address issues like facial hair, redistribution of fat and muscle and thicker vocal chords. The prescriptions are written after extensive medical and blood tests and are only available for patients 18 and older.

Like clockwork, every time the LGBT community takes a step forward, the Florida Family Policy Council will release a statement complaining about why the progress is anti-Christian. Florida’s lawsuit for marriage equality is no exception.

The same day the lawsuit was filed, John Stemberger, the notorious anti-gay activist who is President and General Counsel of the Florida Family Policy Council, issued a statement in response. Nadine Smith, CEO of Equality Florida, summed it up pretty well with her Facebook status declaring Stemberger’s statement Arrogant. Condescending. Bigoted. Expected.

But we couldn’t resist the urge to take it apart, line by line. Stemberger’s words are in bold.

Rubio talks morality at anti-gay fundraiser

Orlando – Sen. Marco Rubio told an anti-gay group that moral issues need to be part of government debate and that the United States needs to do more to protect religious freedom abroad.

“The moral well-being of our nation is our business. It’s everybody’s business,” Rubio said to applause at the Florida Family Policy Council fundraising dinner Nov. 16. “The debate we should be having isn’t whether or not we have a right to talk about values and morals in the public square, the debate we should be having instead is which values and morals our nation should focus on.”
