Chick-fil-A to stop donating to anti-LGBTQ organizations

Fast food restaurant Chick-fil-A has announced that its charitable foundation will no longer be donating to the Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes — organizations known for having anti-LGBTQ views.

The Chick-fil-A Foundation will focus on solving problems of hunger, homelessness and education by giving to organizations such as Junior Achievement USA, Covenant House International and local food banks in over 120 communities.

Protest at Chick-fil-A opening in Canada over LGBTQ issues

TORONTO (AP) | Dozens of protesters crowded a downtown Toronto sidewalk Friday to voice their opposition to the opening of the first franchised Chick-fil-A restaurant in Canada over the chain owner’s record on LGBTQ issues.

The protesters said the company has funded anti-LGBTQ initiatives while company chairman and CEO Dan Cathy has voiced his opposition to same-sex marriage.

As a non-Catholic, I can only imagine the tremendous feelings of fear and unrest you are experiencing in the wake of Pope Benedict XVI’s sudden retirement. Change, as you know, is not a practice the Church takes lightly and when it’s forced upon you, it’s only natural to resist. But popes have resigned before, and while the last occurrence was well before anyone presently on this planet existed, your institution adapted and survived those changes.

Change, as they say, can be good. The world is continuously evolving pardon the phrasing and so too must institutions that were created with the mission of offering spiritual guidance to the population of our planet.
