With this issue Watermark celebrates 25 years of publishing, 25 years of sharing information and helping to build a community. I am beyond proud to be a part of this organization.

As I sat down to write this column, I visited the words of Founder and Guiding Light Tom Dyer as he shared his thoughts on the 20th Anniversary of Watermark. It’s funny to see how much has changed, and how little has changed. We still operate with a small, dedicated staff who are as passionate about their work as they are talented. Watermark still focuses on local community news in its pages, offering a voice to stories other publications will not; and at times we still walk the fine line between financial gain and commitment to community partnerships.

Come one, come all to a summer of fun as every body says love!

As summer draws closer, everyone is starting to plan for what promises to be an epic season for the LGBTQ community. From beach days and backyard barbecues to the inaugural Red Shirt Pride Days in Orlando and the 17th annual St Pete Pride, there is going to be so much to do.

We here at Watermark say that there is no ideal body type for loving who you are and spending the summer having fun with your friends, family and community. That’s why, in observance of the summer season, we have gathered together a diverse collection of LGBTQ models from Central Florida and Tampa Bay to celebrate beautiful beach-ready bodies of all genders, races, sizes and shapes.

The Last Page with Creative Assistant/Photographer Dylan Todd

Dylan Todd has been Watermark’s Creative Assistant and Photographer for nearly three-quarters of a year, but his quest to join Watermark’s staff began well before that.

In 2015, Dylan was impressed with the quality and community nature of Watermark and wanted to be a part of that mission. He logged onto WatermarkOnline.com and emailed the domain asking how his photography services could be used in the newspaper. He then posted the same inquiry on Facebook. At the time, a position was not open.

PHOTOS: COWP’s Pride Festival at Lake Eola had something for everyone

ORLANDO | Thousands of people gathered, danced and showed their Pride around Lake Eola in downtown Orlando to celebrate Come Out With Pride on Oct. 13.

The day-long festival included live performances, vendors and entertainment for all ages. Rainbow colors were on display everywhere you looked.

Watermark owner creates film company, premieres first movie’s trailer

ORLANDO | Watermark Film Company premiered the first trailer to its documentary film “Greetings From Queertown: Orlando” at a private fundraising event at The Venue in Orlando Aug. 23.

Watermark Film Company was launched by Watermark Publishing Group owner Rick Claggett as a way to create, produce and distribute films that inform and educate audiences on the LGBTQ experience, according to a press release.

PHOTOS: Project No Labels dances into second Prom in Wonderland

ST. PETERSBURG | Project No Labels (PNL) kicked off St. Pete Pride weekend June 22 by heading down the rabbit hole and into the organization’s second annual One Love Prom in Wonderland.

“Everyone deserves to experience prom and some LGBTQ+ individuals may have never had the opportunity to attend or bring the person they wanted to go with to this special occasion,” PNL shared ahead of the celebration, which featured beats by DJ Ace Vedo.

PHOTOS: St. Pete comes together for 2018’s SP2 concert

ST. PETERSBURG | St Pete Pride kicked off its 16th year of festivities with the annual SP2 concert June 22 in North Straub Park.

The concert, a fundraising event which assists in funding various Tampa Bay community organizations, featured a mix of fan-favorite area entertainers and was hosted by “RuPaul’s Drag Race” alum Coco Montrese. Watermark was on hand to help celebrate and you can check out some of our photos below.

ST. PETERSBURG | St Pete Pride held its latest and greatest street festival June 24 in the Grand Central District, the perfect close to the celebration’s 16th year.

Pride-goers browsed block after block of the area’s best eateries, advocates and entertainment throughout the district in style, and Watermark was on hand to help close out St Pete Pride 2018. You can check out some of our photos below.

PHOTOS: St Pete Pride Celebrates its Sweet 16

ST. PETERSBURG | St. Pete Pride celebrated its 16th parade in style  June 23 along downtown St. Petersburg’s waterfront.

The party officially began at 2 p.m. with fan-favorite entertainers Kori Stevens and Daphne Ferraro kicking off festivities in both North and South Straub Park, readying Pride-goers for the evening parade which began at 7 p.m. with the second annual TransPride March. Hot 101.5’s Miguel & Holly hosted the evening as friends, families and floats invaded Bayshore Dr. en masse.
