I’m nearly two years younger than the educational organization D.A.R.E., or Drug Abuse Resistance Education, and my early schooling reflects that. Preventative programming was all the rage in the early 90s.

D.A.R.E. was designed to provide students with the tools to resist drugs, alcohol and other high risk behaviors. It still exists today, albeit without the same fanfare, led by police officers in thousands of classrooms across the country. Among other things, it’s committed to helping students from kindergarten through grade 12 “resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives.”

Demi Lovato hospitalized after possible drug overdose

Demi Lovato has been hospitalized July 24 after a possible drug overdose.

TMZ, which broke the story, reports that paramedics found Lovato, 25, unconscious at her home in the Hollywood Hills. She was then taken to an L.A. hospital. Lovato is being treated, and is now “stable,” according to PEOPLE.

Aaron Carter’s Southern Nights performances canceled as singer heads to rehab

Aaron Carter, who recently came out as bisexual, canceled his scheduled performances at Southern Nights Orlando tonight, Sept. 22, and Southern Nights Tampa tomorrow, Sept. 23. TMZ reported the beleaguered singer and Backstreet-sibling is checking into a Florida rehab center.

“Unfortunately due to health-related issues,” Southern Nights Orlando announced via Facebook, “Aaron Carter will not be appearing with us at Southern Nights Orlando.” Southern Nights Tampa’s page echoed the announcement.

Orlando 2016 Fringe Review: 21 Chump Street

From the opening lines to the fast-paced rap lyrics, you can tell this show was written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, but Troupe 1139 from Boone High School definitely bring it to life.

This 15-minute show follows the story of Justin, a straight-A senior in high school, who gets caught up in drugs to impress and woo an attractive new girl named Naomi, who is really an undercover cop. The show is based on an episode of “This American Life”, an NPR radio show, which was a part of the show’s Valentine’s Day show titled “What I Did for Love.”
