Only four years into her drag career, Aquaria has grabbed the attention of fans around the world in her short time on Season 10 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” Prior to joining the show, Aquaria had around 200,000 followers on her Instagram. That number has grown to more than half a million.

Reigning from the New York City drag scene, Aquaria grew up in Pennsylvania when she started expressing interest in wanting to put on makeup for costumes. The drag daughter of Season 4’s winner Sharon Needles, Aquaria has continued to perform well on “Drag Race” by winning two mini-challenges and two main challenges, and she has never been in the bottom.

RuPaul’s Drag Race: Battle of the Seasons is coming to Tampa and Orlando March 31 and April 1. And while drag performers Adore Delano, Bianca Del Rio, Jinkx Monsoon and Sharon Needles are just some of the high-wattage star power fueling the tour, it’s the accompanying band Cary Nokey that’s receiving more and more attention.

Ginger Minj may be known as the gospel-loving “Cross Dresser for Christ” on LOGO TV’s RuPaul’s Drag Race: Season 7, but this Florida native considers herself more of a performance chameleon and a Broadway girl. “Give me a microphone and let me work,” says Ginger during the interview. “Rest assured it will be funny and inappropriate.”

Born in Leesville, Ginger grew up in the Lake County theater scene and cites performance and entertainment as being the only life she’s ever known. When she turned 18, she sold everything she owned, moved to New York and performed on Broadway. Ginger left New York in 2006 and moved to Orlando, where she became a regular drag performer for the Sleuth’s Mystery Dinner Theater.

SteveBlanchardHeadshot_137x185I’m always fascinated by the war on words.

This word is offensive. That word has been reclaimed. And the other word is only okay if it’s used by someone within a certain group or community.

It’s confusing, and if you’re involved in the LGBT community at all, you’ve heard the discussion over LOGO’s decision to pull the “She-Mail” segment from future episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race. The tongue-in-cheek reference to the host’s communication with the cross-dressing contestants survived for five-and-a-half seasons. But when a “She-Male” titled challenge was thrown into the mix, it raised half-cocked eyebrows even further north.
