Josh Weed, a Mormon who made headlines for his blog post explaining that he was in a happy marriage with his wife Lolly despite being a gay man, is now getting divorced.

Josh and Lolly, who started as childhood friends, have been married for ten years and have four daughters together. In 2012, Josh claimed in a blog post their marriage worked even though he wasn’t straight.

Philadelphia archbishop says no Communion for sexually active gay couples

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The leader of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia says divorced and remarried parishioners should abstain from sex and live “like brother and sister” if they want to receive Holy Communion and haven’t had their previous marriage annulled.

Archbishop Charles Chaput issued a new set of pastoral guidelines for clergy and other leaders in the archdiocese.

To be upfront, I am not Catholic, nor have I ever put much stock into what the Church had to say about most things—except when it came to exorcism scenes in scary movies.

The Church, in my view, is an outdated, chauvinistic club where old guys go to hang out together, put on fabulous outfits and point a judgmental finger at the rest of the world. The more the media gives the club attention, the more sway it seems to have over both the important and trivial things in our lives.
