One Magical Weekend continued its traditional #RED party at Disney Springs’ House of Blues with the fourth installment called Galaxy.

The dance floor was packed with a sea of red shirts, fans, harnesses and swimwear while huge planets and space debris swayed above their heads. The House of Blues was serving up rainbow-colored Bud Light bottles, sexy dancers and so much Pride that the universe could barely contain itself.

RED Shirt Pride Day looks to continue Orlando’s traditional Gay Day at the Magic Kingdom

In June 1991, a group of LGBTQ Central Floridians—led by openly gay Orlando resident Doug Swallow—decided to meet at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom to say to “The Most Magical Place On Earth” that “We’re here, we’re queer and we’d like to see Cinderella’s Castle!”

“[Doug said] ‘let’s go be somewhere where we can be ourselves and let people see that we’re normal people, but let them know that we are gay … we’ll do something like wear a red shirt so we can know who each other are.’ That was totally Doug’s idea, to make that day what it is,” said Michael Wanzie, a Central Florida entertainer who was at the very first event, in an interview with Watermark in 2018.

UPDATED: Department of Health in Central Florida to offer free hepatitis A vaccinations

UPDATE: This story has been updated to include Osceola, Lake and Brevard Counties.

ORLANDO | The Florida Department of Health (DOH) in Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake and Brevard Counties announced they will offer free hepatitis A vaccinations to high-risk individuals, according to a Dec. 12 press release.

Men who have sexual encounters with other men are among the list of high-risk groups, according to the DOH. Other groups include users of recreational drugs, those who are homeless, anyone with chronic or long-term liver disease and people with clotting-factor disorders. The DOH also recommends that all children at age one year, people who have direct contact with those who have hepatitis A, travelers to countries where hepatitis A is common and caregivers of adoptees from countries where hepatitis A is common should be vaccinated as well.

One Magical Weekend continued with the weekend’s biggest parties with RED Vol. III: #STRUT at the House of Blues in Disney Springs June 2.

The days official color of red continued on as many partygoers swapped out the red t-shirt for red shorts, crop tops and harnesses. The dance floor was packed by midnight as thousands moved, shook and strutted under a giant, red 9-foot high heel.

Prosecutors: Pulse Nightclub shooter intended to attack Disney Springs

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — The Orlando nightclub shooter intended to attack Disney World’s shopping and entertainment complex by hiding a gun in a stroller but became spooked by police and instead chose the gay club as his target, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Prosecutors revealed those details during their closing arguments in the trial of Noor Salman, the widow of Pulse nightclub shooter Omar Mateen. Salman, 31, is accused of helping her husband in the attack that killed 49 people in 2016. She is charged with obstruction and providing material support to a terrorist organization and faces up to life in prison if convicted.

The House of Mouse renovated and redesigned Downtown Disney and re-opened it as Disney Springs in 2016. Did they have plans of their own for that theater?

Britney Spears visits Disney Springs’ new Planet Hollywood Observatory

ORLANDO – International superstar Britney Spears paid a visit to Disney’s newly opened Planet Hollywood Observatory at Disney Springs in Orlando March 13 for a meet and greet with fans.

The pop princess was greeted by hundreds of admirers and spectators who waited to take pictures and get autographs before Spears and her family, including actress and sister Jamie Lynn Spears, “dined with the stars” in the restaurant.
