Police official sorry for helping discredit 1994 rape of lesbian victim

NEW YORK (AP) — A New York City police official apologized Friday to a rape victim he helped discredit almost 24 years ago.

Deputy Commissioner John Miller said in a statement sent to the woman’s lawyer that he was wrong to tell reporters that police doubted the woman’s account of being raped in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park.

Police say they’ve cracked rape case of lesbian that columnist deemed hoax

NEW YORK (AP) — New York City detectives say they’ve cracked a 23-year-old rape case a newspaper columnist wrote was a hoax.

A woman was walking through Brooklyn’s Prospect Park in 1994 when she was dragged into the bushes and raped. She gave police a detailed description of her attacker.

DMV forces South Carolina teen to remove his makeup for driver’s license

Chase Culpepper, a 16-year-old non-gender teen who prefers male pronouns and wears girl’s clothing and makeup, said the DMV in Anderson, S.C. forced him to take off his makeup when he was there to get his driver’s license.

According to the Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund as reported by the Daily News , “workers accused him of not looking the way ‘a boy should’ and refused to take his picture while he was wearing makeup.”
