Given the flurry of historical reassessments we are currently experiencing, I find that many of my conservative friends are torn between seeing and feeling, between their commitment to their ideals and their short termer’s allegiance with political expediency.

Thailand may soon legally recognize third gender

Bangkok – A new version of Thailand’s constitution could acknowledge a “third gender,” according to a member of the Constitution Drafting Committee, the group working on the document.

A third gender would be defined as someone who doesn’t consider themselves to be male or female. It would also give the citizens of Thailand the right to self-identify.

North Dakota seeks dismissal of gay marriage suit

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – State officials are asking a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit challenging North Dakota’s constitutional prohibition on same-sex marriage, despite a wave of court decisions in other states striking down such bans.

The state attorney general’s office filed the motion late July 1 in U.S. District Court in Fargo. North Dakota Solicitor General Doug Bahr argues in court documents that states have the right to define and regulate marriage.
