Gov. Mccrory: North Carolina anti-LGBT law shaped by business lobby group

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) – North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory says business lobbyists helped shape a state law limiting protections for LGBT people but that also included employer-friendly provisions banning local minimum wage increases and making it harder for workers to sue for workplace discrimination.

McCrory’s assertion contradicts statements by the head of the state’s Chamber of Commerce and his aides, who have denied a role in shaping the legislation called House Bill 2.

Chamber set to recognize business leaders with Diamond Gala

Clearwater – On Jan. 17, the Tampa Bay Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce will hold its first-ever Diamond Award Ceremony. There, the organization—formerly known as the Tampa Bay Business Guild—will honor Tampa Bay community and business leaders with an awards ceremony at the Holiday Inn on Ulmerton Road.

“These awards highlight the impact by community and business leaders and celebrate the achievements of the best of the best in Tampa Bay,” explains TBGLCC Vice President Ashley Brundage.
