Sometimes rejection feels like a knife in the heart, and no one knows that better than Puccini’s treacherous villain Scarpia when he sets his machinations on the beautiful singer Tosca and her lover Cavaradossi. A masterwork of soaring arias and exquisite duets, Tosca shines as one of the great jewels of the operatic form. Iconic, everlasting, Puccini’s riveting melodrama of escape, pursuit, torture and murder culminates in Tosca’s gripping battle to try to save everything she believes in — art, love and life itself.

Tosca will be sung in Italian with English translations projected above the stage. Maestro Lipton will lead an international cast along with the Opera Tampa Orchestra and Chorus.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical practically transports audience members into the television special (that originally aired in 1964) as songs drive the plot while familiar and nostalgic set design with projections, costumes and characters are brought to stage. The cast brings new energy to the classic songs and dialogue, while irresistible and loveable puppets help showcase the charming “roughness” from the television show’s stop-motion effects.

The story tells the tale of a young Rudolph who, because of the appearance of his bright, shining nose, is ousted from the reindeer games in Christmas-town. He flees town, meets up with new friends Hermey and Yukon, and a series of funny and endearing adventures ensue including a visit to The Island of Misfit Toys. Rudolph journeys home, where a snowstorm of epic proportions is threatening Christmas. Can Rudolph save his family and friends and help Santa save the holiday?

“A coming out story for the ages.” -David Ehrlich, Time Out New York

An exquisite coming-of-age movie with a perfect cast, Henry Gamble’s Birthday Party unfolds over the course of one very eventful day in the life of 17-year-old preacher’s kid Henry (played by newcomer Cole Doman in a tremendous performance).

As Henry treads through various sexual possibilities, seeking to come into his own, so too do the adults and teenagers of the party, all struggling to navigate the public and private, and their longing, despite themselves and their faith, for earthly love.
