Mark’s List founder killed after first leg of SMARTride charity event

Marathon – Gay activist and founder of the gay travel and entertainment website JumpOnMarksList.com, Mark Haines, of Fort Lauderdale died Nov. 14 after he was struck by a pickup truck and two other vehicles on U.S. 1 in the Florida Keys near Marathon. He was 54.

Haines had just completed the first leg of the SMART Ride, a two-day, 165-mile bike ride from Miami to Key West that raises money for organizations working with those affected by HIV/AIDS.

‘Victimized’ ties horror, thriller and drama elements to gay characters

How much abuse can one person take? That’s exactly the question that’s answered in Victimized, an independent film premiering at the Clearwater Cinema Cafe on Saturday, Sept. 27.

Michael Kenneth Fahr began work on the film in 2002 as a college student. The original version was very short, but the Connecticut native says he knew he always wanted to extend it into a full-length feature.

Attacked lesbian’s mother wants attempted murder charge

The mother of a woman who was allegedly beaten by her girlfriend’s brother is pushing for more charges in the attack.

Kristi Taylor tells WALA-TV that daughter Mallory Owens was attacked because of her sexual orientation. Taylor wants assault charges upgraded to attempted murder.
