The 91st annual Academy Awards became a historic night on Sunday at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles as the golden statues were handed out to first-time winners for both Hollywood newcomers and overdue veterans.

Queen, fronted by singer Adam Lambert, kicked off the show with a melody of Queen songs including “We are the Champions.” The hostless show was sped forward simply by presenters and kicked off with the comedian trio of Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph and Amy Poehler.

Lady Gaga, Janelle Monae, St. Vincent among performers to earn Grammy nominations

The 61st Grammy Award nominations were announced Dec. 7, and the big winners are music in the movies as the soundtracks for “Black Panther” and “A Star is Born” received eight and four nominations, respectively.

Janelle Monae, who came out as pansexual earlier this year, picked up a pair of Grammy nominations; one in the Album of the Year category for “Dirty Computer” and another for best music video, “Pynk.”

TV showrunners, actors threaten to boycott Georgia over anti-gay adoption bill

TV showrunners and actors are threatening to boycott production in Georgia over the state’s proposed anti-gay adoption bill.

The bill, which has been sent to Georgia’s House of Representatives, would allow adoption agencies to refuse to place children with gay and lesbian couples if it goes against their religious beliefs.

I’ve never made a New Year’s resolution—at least that I can remember.It isn’t because I don’t hope for a better year than the last, particularly after a rather polarizing 2017. It’s just something that never really occurs to me, especially now that I have to wrangle my husband for my midnight-mandated “kissy” photo op. He hates pictures of people kissing.

There’s nothing wrong with people making resolutions. It works for some, and that’s wonderful. I try to make every day the best it can be, so an over-arching 365-day look-ahead just doesn’t do it for me.
