NORFOLK, Va. (AP) | Outside of the Hershee Bar’s main entrance, two lit candles sat on a bench Halloween night. Sandwiched between them was a sign.

“Thank you Hershee Bar for ‘being there’ for me when no one else was,” it read.

Inside, flashing lights lit up the dance floor. A 1990s R&B mix blared through the speakers as people dressed as Run DMC, Minnie Mouse and pharaohs flashed their driver’s licenses to get in.

Love is magic and we’ll be celebrating both as I Love the Burg St. Pete, Uniqorn, and OpenHouse ST. PETE welcome revelers to Pride on Edge, St. Pete’s first pop-up gay club experience for TWO NIGHTS ONLY.

This is not your typical pride party. The magical Uniqorn touch means an experience that’s never over the top, but hardly comfortable playing it safe.

We’ll be popping up on the fringes of downtown in one of its coolest up and coming neighborhoods, the Edge District. OPENHOUSE’s new and unique event space provides the perfect blank canvas for a weekend full of music, lights, dancing, drinks, DJs, and other colorful entertainment.

A portion of proceeds go to benefit Metro Wellness & Community Centers in support of their essential LGBTQ, transgender, and youth programs.

Something Crafty

Savoy recently hosted one last night for the Locker Room, its sister bar geared more to a sports oriented crowd. The Locker Room initially opened up as Savoy’s smoke-free option called the Tattoo Lounge. With the closing of the Locker Room and soon Savoy’s Ivanhoe Wine and Spirits, patrons are left asking what’s going to happen to the space? According to one of the owners Brandon Llewellyn, a new concept bar will be opening soon, one that will feature craft cocktails. The new (currently unnamed) bar will not connect to or be a direct part of Savoy like the Locker Room was. It also seems that craft cocktails are becoming a trend within the LGBT community as a new rumored bar has set its eyes on the Milk District. As of now there’s no opening date for this second bar, but according to its manager, it will be muddling soon enough.

Changes Coming to St. Pete Pride?

By : Aaron Drake

The tumult in the community over big changes happening to the St. Petersburg Pride Festival and Parade can simmer down a bit: It appears St. Pete Pride isn’t going anywhere in 2016.

There is no doubt a shift on the horizon, with chatter that Pride is moving the parade and festival to Downtown or possibly the new pier once it is completed, which is estimated for fall 2018. And there’s a possibility St. Pete might be building to become a candidate to host World Pride in the near future, which will take a literal village (or city) to make happen.

Baton Rouge, La. (AP) — A dozen states still have anti-sodomy laws on the books 10 years after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled they are unconstitutional.

One such state is Louisiana, where gay rights groups contend police have used anti-sodomy laws to target gay men. But state lawmakers sided with religious and conservative groups in refusing to repeal the law last week.

Austin (AP) – Already indicted on felony securities fraud charges, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton will face an ethics investigation for advising local officials they could refuse to issue same-sex marriage licenses on religious grounds.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled gay marriage legal in June 2015. A month later, a complaint filed and co-signed by more than 200 attorneys said Paxton’s stance encouraged officials to violate the U.S. Constitution and break their oaths of office.
