They were the first Australian artists ever to have a single be certified Platinum in the U.S. with over 1 million paid downloads of their 2007 single “Untouched.” Their relationships—with their partners and with each other—not only frequently fuel tabloids across the globe, they’ll likely be on display on their upcoming MTV reality series. Australian super group The TEN Tenors finish up the U.S. leg of their 20th anniversary tour “The Power of TEN” in Florida

The TEN Tenors are one of Australia’s most well known musical exports. The ensemble of, you guessed it, 10 male singers have been representing “the Land Down Under” for more than 20 years, touring an average of 250 shows every year and selling more than three million tickets.

The group, like a classically trained version of the Puerto Rican boy band Menudo, changes and replaces members as they drop out of the group to maintain that power of 10.

Australian opposition decides to sink same-sex marriage vote

CANBERRA, Australia (AP) – The Australian opposition on Oct. 10 decided to block government plans for a public but non-binding vote on recognizing same-sex marriage, arguing it would better if the issue was decided in Parliament.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull’s conservative coalition government needs center-left Labor Party’s support to get enabling legislation through the Senate to hold a national vote on same-sex marriage on Feb. 11.

CANBERRA, Australia (AP) – Australia’s prime minister has urged his political opponents to allow Australians to endorse gay marriage through a popular vote instead of putting the divisive issue into lawmakers’ hands.

Most opposition lawmakers, who support gay marriage, oppose the government’s plan to ask the public in a plebiscite whether the Parliament should create marriage equality.

Australian Olympic gold medalist Ian Thorpe confirms he’s gay

SYDNEY – Five-time Olympic swimming gold medalist Ian Thorpe for the first time publicly confirmed that he is gay during a television interview July 13, ending years of speculation about his sexuality.

Thorpe, who had long denied that he was gay, told British talk show host Michael Parkinson in an interview broadcast on Australia’s Channel 10 that he just recently realized the truth about himself.
