Miss’d America drag pageant finds new home

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) – A drag spoof of the Miss America competition will be held this fall at Atlantic City’s Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa.

The Miss’d America pageant will mesh with a gay-friendly tourism campaign at the casino, as well as citywide efforts to embrace and attract lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender vacationers, The Press of Atlantic City reported.

Atlantic City courting gay tourism market

ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey (AP) – Atlantic City is planning a series of events to attract gay tourists, who are becoming an increasingly important part of the resort’s growth strategy.

Mayor Don Guardian and tourism officials said June 16 the goal is to reinvigorate a once-thriving gay community in the New Jersey resort city.
