TAMPA | The Tampa Bay Business Journal has announced the honorees for the 2019 Business of Pride awards, including Watermark Publishing Group Inc. which will be honored as an LGBTQ-owned company.

The annual awards, presented in partnership with the Tampa Bay Diversity Chamber of Commerce, were created to recognize individuals and companies who work to advance LGBTQ equality in the workplace. Honorees were chosen by members of the Tampa Bay Business Journal editorial team and a panel of outside advisers.

Activists welcome National Center for Transgender Equality to Tampa

TAMPA | Area activists will host a special reception for the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) Sept. 12 at the Tampa Club to raise awareness and funds for the social justice advocacy organization.

NCTE is devoted to ending discrimination and violence against transgender people through education and advocacy on national issues. They advise that by empowering transgender people and their allies to educate and influence policymakers and others, NCTE facilitates a strong and clear voice for transgender equality in the nation’s capital and around the country.

Rhodes Perry to hold live ‘The Out Entrepreneur’ podcast in Orlando

One year after launching his LGBTQ business podcast “The Out Entrepreneur,” host Rhodes Perry is heading to Orlando for the show’s first-ever live recording at The Orange Studio Dec. 11.

The Out Entrepreneur is a weekly podcast in which Perry gets to “interview today’s most inspiring LGBTQ bosses crushing it in business,” as he says to start off each podcast.

Metro Tampa Bay takes it back to the ’20s with the Great Gatsby Gala

Metro Wellness & Community Centers commemorated its 25th year with their annual gala, themed after the Great Gatsby and held at the appropriately-titled Gatsby’s Bistro, Nov. 11.

The evening was hosted by comedian Christine O’Leary, nominated by Curve Magazine to be one of the “50 Funniest Lesbians in America,” with additional entertainment provided by local favorites like Jennifer Real and DJ Bill Kody.

“The awards have a new name this year, the Diamonds in Diversity,” says Ashley Brundage, the Diversity Chamber’s president. “But we are still honoring and celebrating the best in business and community.”

St. Pete Pride reveals grand marshal nominees

St. Petersburg – For the fourth year in a row, St. Pete Pride is asking the community of Tampa Bay to select its grand marshals. On March 8, the organization revealed its 2015 nominees and the community has until March 27 to make their selections.

Those nominees are selected by the board of St. Pete Pride and each has made significant contributions toward LGBT rights in Tampa Bay and in the state.

Chamber set to recognize business leaders with Diamond Gala

Clearwater – On Jan. 17, the Tampa Bay Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce will hold its first-ever Diamond Award Ceremony. There, the organization—formerly known as the Tampa Bay Business Guild—will honor Tampa Bay community and business leaders with an awards ceremony at the Holiday Inn on Ulmerton Road.

“These awards highlight the impact by community and business leaders and celebrate the achievements of the best of the best in Tampa Bay,” explains TBGLCC Vice President Ashley Brundage.
