Walmart is under fire for including a gay couple in its new promotional video series on Facebook.

“Love Is In The Aisle: A dating show at Walmart” shows couples going on blind dates shopping in Walmart. Episode two features Andy and Pat who get to know each other by sharing “pan” puns and conspiracy theories on all-in-one body wash, shampoo and conditioner products.

Christian group condemns Parents magazine for featuring gay dads

Parents magazine featured fitness trainer Shaun T., his husband Scott Blokker and their one-year-old twins on the cover of its February issue. This is the first time a same-sex couple has been included on the cover since it was first published in 1926.

Arkansas school district plans discrimination protections

BENTONVILLE, Ark. (AP) – Bentonville School District leaders have asked the superintendent to draft an anti-discrimination policy that protects sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status and veterans.

The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports the change would emulate the University of Arkansas and area employers. The district already protects employees on the basis of race, religion, gender and other criteria.

The first Gay Day was in 1999, and immediately, religious groups blamed Disney for allowing it to happen.

In 1994, after the crowds swelled to tens of thousands, Disney posted signs at the park entrance that both distanced the park from Gay Day, “We are not sponsoring or promoting it,” and made an attempt at welcoming, “We do not discriminate on any basis.”

Anti-gay group advises not to accept mail with Harvey Milk stamp

The American Family Association, an anti-gay group promoting “traditional family values,” has asked its supporters to refuse mail with the Harvey Milk stamp attached.

In a post on its website May 27, the AFA said the stamp was disturbing, calling Milk a predator.

He asked me to drive from my daily assignment desk in Port Charlotte to the Magic Kingdom in Kissimmee to cover Gay Day.

I leapt at the opportunity to not only leave the confines of my office on a beautiful June Saturday, but to experience the Magic Kingdom with LGBT people from around the world. Just weeks after securing press passes for myself and my husband-who was my “official” photographer-I was soon walking through a sea of red T-shirts as we were escorted by a cheerful Disney Cast Member.
