America’s preeminent progressive rock band Kansas returns to Ruth Eckerd Hall on Friday, November 11 at 8pm celebrating the 40th Anniversary of their breakthrough album Leftoverture. To celebrate, for the first time in history, the band will be performing the album in its entirety. The tour will showcase two hours of classic KANSAS music including hit songs, deep cuts and new songs from their soon to be released album The Prelude Implicit.

In 1976, KANSAS released the album Leftoverture, which included the smash hit, and million-selling single Carry On Wayward Son, along with fan favorites such as The Wall, Miracles Out Of Nowhere and What’s On My Mind, Leftoverture became the band’s breakthrough album. The album peaked at £5 on Billboard’s album charts and reached sextuple-platinum status for more than six million copies sold.

“These definitely will not be your typical KANSAS concerts of the past few years,” commented original KANSAS guitarist Richard Williams. “This is incredibly exciting for the entire band, and hopefully our fans. It’s something we’ve never done before, play an album in its entirety, as part of a set. Leftoverture was our breakthrough and it’s special that we are getting to celebrate it 40 years later. We’ve never even played Questions of My Childhood live before. I can’t wait!”

NEW YORK (AP) – Tegan and Sara remember the unfiltered advice Neil Young and his manager gave them when they were signed to the rock icon’s Vapor Records 16 years ago as budding 19-year-old singers.

“There was a very poignant speech about ‘you could go this way and you’re taking a real risk if you don’t have success, there’s a chance a major label won’t be interested in you for very long, but then there’s this path and this path is harder, there’s less money and you’re going to struggle but it’s going to give you time to develop as an artist.’ And that’s, quite literally, the best gift you can be given as a young artist is time to develop,” Tegan, now 35, recalled in a recent interview with her sister.

Maxwell with special guest Ro James

Soul star Maxwell returns to Ruth Eckerd Hall for the first time since 2014! The SUMMERS’ 2016 Tour arrives Thursday, August 4 at 7:30pm, with special guest Ro James. Maxwell was enormously important in defining and shaping the neo-soul movement that rose to prominence over the latter half of the ’90s. Drawing his greatest inspiration from the concept of the R&B auteur (looking to artists like Prince, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, etc.), he recorded some of the most ambitious R&B of his time, becoming wildly popular and often earning critical raves in the process.

In a statement following the unveiling of Lake By the Ocean, Maxwell said he’s been recording his new album in New York over the past few years with some of the collaborators who helped him on his breakout 1996 album Urban Hang Suite. “I’m working with all of the same people on the new album,” Maxwell said. “It’s always been a family type of thing, and I think that that’s what, maybe, has made it special. It feels, to me, even better than what we did 20 years ago.” Every ticket purchased online for Maxwell’s tour will include a CD of blackSUMMERS’night.
