Canadian Eric Radford has made history as the first openly gay athlete to win gold at the Winter Olympics.

Radford, 33, and his partner Meagan Duhamel won the medal for team figure skating for their free skate to “Hometown Glory” by Adele. The first ever openly gay athlete to win gold was Australian diver Matthew Mitcham who received the honor at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

Kenworthy, 26, posted a few photos with Rippon from the official kick-off of the 2018 Winter Olympics. In one photo, Kenworthy kisses Rippon on the cheek.

Gus Kenworthy sat down with Ellen DeGeneres on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” to discuss being out at this year’s Winter Olympics, the inspiration behind his Head & Shoulders ad and Vice President Mike Pence leading the U.S. delegation to the Olympics.

“It’s going to be a different experience than last time around because I’m not in the closet,” Kenworthy says of being out for the first time during the Olympic games. “I just want to meet as many athletes as I can, get to enjoy the opening and closing ceremonies, [and] hopefully ski the best I possibly can.”

Freeskier Gus Kenworthy qualified on Sunday to compete on the U.S. Olympic team for the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea.

Kenworthy, 26, placed second at the last Olympic qualifier for freeski slopestyle earning him a spot on the Olympic team.
