New grant, president for CFGLLA
The Central Florida Gay and Lesbian Law Association (CFGLLA) has been awarded a $4,500 grant from the Florida Bar Association to help fight domestic violence. The funds will be used to gather and analyze data from the local community on the issue, prepare brochures and documents to raise awareness, present workshops to the community and law enforcement and identify and assist victims.
The CFGLLA also recently elected its first female president, Laura Pichardo, managing attorney with Community Legal Services of Mid-Florida, Inc.
Pichardo is assembling a committee to effectuate the grant, which will be chaired by CFGLLA president-elect Dixie Daimwood.
