Strike Out for AIDS returns to Tampa

The Third Annual Strike Out for AIDS fundraiser will return to Pin Chasers Lanes on Aug. 8, but teams are forming now.

The annual “funbowl” raises money for the Francis House of Tampa Bay, which assists the bay area’s HIV/AIDS community.

According to Joy Winheim, Francis House executive director, the 6 p.m. event has grown each year and provides a major source of income to the charity.

Bowlers can join the fundraiser for $50 or teams of four can join for $175. Prizes and raffles will be rewarded throughout the night. Of course, no LGBT-themed event would be complete without an after party. That’s where the Tampa Bay order of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence come in.

The Sisters will put on a 10:30 p.m. show at City Side Lounge where they will no doubt seek more donations for Francis House.

For more information on the Strike Out for AIDS Funbowl or to register a bowler or a team, call Winheim at 813-237-3066 or visit FrancisHouse.org.
