Nicki Minaj pulls out of Saudi Arabia festival to support LGBTQ rights, women’s rights

Nicki Minaj has canceled her appearance at Jeddah World Fest in Saudi Arabia because she says she wants to show her support for LGBTQ rights, freedom of expression and women’s rights.

“After careful reflection I have decided to no longer move forward with my scheduled concert at Jeddah World Fest,” Minaj said in a statement to the Associated Press. “While I want nothing more than to bring my show to fans in Saudi Arabia, after better educating myself on the issues, I believe it is important for me to make clear my support for the rights of women, the LGBTQ community and freedom of expression.”

A documentary focused on South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg’s 2020 presidential campaign run is currently filming.

Story Syndicate, a production company headed by filmmakers Liz Garbus and Dan Cogan, has started filming Buttigieg’s campaign events and the recent Democratic debate in Miami, according to Axios.

Renée Zellweger transforms into the iconic actress/singer Judy Garland in the first full-length trailer for the film biopic, “Judy.”

The film follows Garland as she and her two children arrive at their hotel suite only to discover that the room has been released because her account is in debt. Financially suffering, Garland accepts a job for a five-week show run at The Talk of the Town in London in 1968. The shows would be her final live performances before her accidental drug overdose in 1969 at the age of 47. Along the way she battles addiction, depression and begins a love affair with Mickey Deans, who would become her fifth and final husband.

‘Golden Girls’ appears to get better with pop culture age

Alexandra Wilkinson was only 2 months old when “The Golden Girls” ended its television run in 1992.

But she became a fan last year while taking a course called “Women and Aging: Lessons from the Golden Girls” at California State University, Long Beach. Now she streams episodes on Hulu. She owns a “Golden Girls” T-shirt. And when she graduated recently with a master’s degree in gerontology, she decorated her cap with a picture of “Golden Girl” Sophia along with the sardonic Sicilian’s trademark phrase, “Picture it.”

Smollett wants Chicago’s lawsuit moved to federal court

The motion filed July 3 and released to the media by Smollett’s representatives comes after the city sued the actor in April for the cost of investigating his allegations that he was a victim of a racist and anti-gay attack in downtown Chicago.

“Sweet Dreams: Dancing for TRANSitional Housing” will partner 11 amateur dancers, all LGBTQ community leaders in Central Florida, with professional dancers for a night of fast-paced, fancy footwork at the DoubleTree by Hilton in downtown Orlando on July 13.
