ST. PETERSBURG | St Pete Pride’s 2019 SP2 concert was louder and prouder than ever June 21, welcoming singer-songwriter Lisa Loeb.

The annual fundraiser, benefiting St Pete Pride’s Community Grants Program, was hosted by Entertainment Director Kori Stevens. Ahead of Loeb’s headlining performance, crowds gathered at North Straub Park to celebrate with fan favorite entertainers like Divine AF and Jennifer Real.

ST. PETERSBURG | St Pete Pride kicked off its 16th year of festivities with the annual SP2 concert June 22 in North Straub Park.

The concert, a fundraising event which assists in funding various Tampa Bay community organizations, featured a mix of fan-favorite area entertainers and was hosted by “RuPaul’s Drag Race” alum Coco Montrese. Watermark was on hand to help celebrate and you can check out some of our photos below.

Cemented as an integral piece in the total St. Pete Pride package, the SP2 Concert kicks down the door to Pride weekend every year and raises the excitement decibels that carry the energy through the parade and festival.

The all-female line-up, which will take the stage June 24 at 26thand Central, will be headlined by legendary dance diva Deborah Cox, and she will be joined that night by St. Pete’s own soulful, powerhouse voice Jennifer Real and the rocking goddesses of Karmic Tattoo.

Cox took a few moments from her busy schedule to speak with Watermark about her upcoming music and theater projects, as well as why she has so much pride for the community.

SP2 Concert is a fundraising event to assist in funding various Tampa Bay community organizations. This year’s concert features the legendary Deborah Cox.

A mix of various bands and local singers will warm up the crowd as attendees cool down with their choice of Bud Lite and Absolut Vodka beverages. Beverage sales benefit the St Pete Pride Community Grants Program. The concert is being presented by St Pete Pride, and the proceeds will go to the St Pete Pride Community Grants Program.
Pit Pass
To celebrate the event, a special Pit Pass will be offered where you and your friends can view the concert directly in front of the Wells Fargo Stage.

I was recently asked by a fellow member of the LGBTQ community if my husband is transgender because he dabbles in drag.

While I often point out jokingly that he didn’t don drag until after we were married, something I’ve mentioned here before, I have a tremendous amount of respect for his craft. It’s one thing to be handsome, which he is, but it’s just a work of art to be beautiful on top of that. Which she is.

ST. PETERSBURG | St Pete Pride announced April 24 that entertainers Lisa Loeb and Rita Ora will headline concerts for the organization’s 17th annual celebration in June.

Loeb is a singer-songwriter who began her career with the platinum-selling hit “Stay (I Missed You)” from “Reality Bites.” Other singles include “Do You Sleep” and “Let’s Forget about It,” which she’s sure to perform as she headlines the organization’s SP2 Concert June 21 from 7-10 p.m.

St Pete Pride announces new leadership

Following its successful 16th year, St Pete Pride announced Nov. 19 that the organization’s board president, vice president and secretary would transition and that its treasurer had been re-elected.

“St Pete Pride voted in new leadership, including three newly-elected officers from various backgrounds,” the organization shared, highlighting Chrys Bundy-Brennan’s election as president. Bundy-Brennan follows Scion Crowder’s four-year term which oversaw St Pete Pride’s largest period of growth.

St. Pete Pride drew 220,000 people to St. Petersburg for its weekend-long celebration last year, around 40,000 short of the Sunshine City’s entire population.

As any event of its size would, particularly one so intrinsically tied to the community it serves, the organization’s 15th year faced its fair share of cheers and jeers. For the first time in its history, the St. Pete Pride parade was held in downtown St. Petersburg rather than in the city’s Grand Central District.

It’s no secret that for the first time in its 15 years, the St. Pete Pride parade is moving from the Grand Central District and heading downtown, but that isn’t the only change to the schedule.

“There are always lots of events during Pride month and this is the first year that we actively went out to recruit events from all over Pinellas County,” St. Pete Pride Executive Director Eric Skains says. “We have an extensive list of events compiled from all this information we received, and they are all amazing events.”
