‘Hamilton,’ ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ among the Broadway shows coming to Dr. Phillips Center

ORLANDO | The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts announced their 2018/19 FAIRWINDS Broadway series in a press release March 9.

The season will be headlined by Lin-Manuel Miranda’s 2015 Tony Award-winning smash hit Hamilton. Hamilton took Broadway by storm nearly three years ago going on to receive a record-setting 16 Tony nominations, and winning 11 of them including Best Musical.

The season will also feature the 2017’s Tony Award-winning Best Musical Dear Evan Hansen and Best Musical Revival Hello, Dolly!, the latter starring Broadway legend Betty Buckley.

Dr. Phillips Center’s full 2018/19 season line-up is:

Hello, Dolly! — Nov. 27 – Dec. 2

Irving Berlin’s White Christmas The Musical — Dec. 18 – 23

Hamilton — Jan. 22 – Feb. 10

Fiddler on the Roof — March 5 – 10

Dear Evan Hansen — April 16 – 21

Anastasia — May 14 – 19

Come From Away — June 11 – 16

The season will also feature audience favorite Jersey Boys as a season option. Jersey Boys will run Oct. 30-Nov. 4.

“This will be a stand-out season on so many levels,” said Dr. Phillips Center President and CEO Kathy Ramsberger. “Hamilton has become a theatrical phenomenon, and three of the seven shows made their debut on Broadway just last year, so the content is fresh and relevant.”
