National Park designation for Stonewall Inn brings an auction of fabulousness! Hello, Cher. Hello, Madonna.

It’s so heartwarming to see our friends across the country offer support to Orlando after the summer of hell. Last night, an auction kicked off – sadly on the day the death of Dead or Alive lead singer Pete Burns’ passing – that includes some things you might need (OK, NEED!!!!) for your collections. Back in June, Stonewall became a a national monument, the first LGBTQ national monument in our history. Last night, an auction kicked off to buffet the cause and to raise awareness. Here’s what we know about the auction, as sent by a friend:

“We are working on a historic auction for the newly designated —by President Obama—Stonewall National Park. The auction opened online at Charitybuzz.com/Stonewall at midnight on Oct 25 through the first week of November. Among the confirmed luminaries are: Madonna, Cher, Bette Midler, Taylor Mac, Anderson Cooper, Stevie Nicks, George Clooney, Cindy Lauper, Bryan Lourd, Andy Cohen, Jonathan Adler, Bob Gruen, Mick Rock,  Dustin Lance Black, Mick Rock, Troye Sivan, CEO & Founder of Tumblr David Karp and more.

Stonewall National Park became the first LGBTQ historic site in the National Park System dedicated because of its significance in gay history. That stunned New Yorkers spontaneously and peacefully assembled there after the Orlando murders at Pulse poignantly point out this park means more than it ever has to the LGBTQ community, and the community at large. For the park to create a monument to mark its history, cover basic necessities, create website, educational materials, and park rangers, an endowment must be created—and PrideLive/Nation and the National Parks Service have partnered for the first fundraiser.

The designation accomplished two main objectives: to ensure that the Stonewall uprising is told and remembered at this historic site, and incorporate the LGBTQ struggle for civil rights into the National Parks Service narrative of 20th century American history.”

Here is a quick video from the press opening last night. This is us. Do what you can.
