Pulse shooting victim’s condition improves

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) – Officials at Orlando Regional Medical Center say the only survivor of the Pulse massacre who was still in critical condition has seen their condition improve.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that ORMC officials said the unidentified patient’s condition was upgraded Aug. 16 to guarded. Officials did not provide further details.

Two days after the June 12 shooting, six victims had remained in critical condition. At the time, Dr. Michael Cheatham said he feared the death toll could go higher. But all of those six patients have survived.

The attack killed 49 people and injured more than 50 others, making it the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history. The gunman was killed by police after a three-hour standoff.
