Clermont Mayor Gail Ash intends to issue a proclamation at a city council meeting on June 28, naming the day “Stanley Almodovar III Day.”

Stanley grew up in Clermont and graduated from East Ridge High School after his family moved there in 2003 from Massachusetts.

“We want to acknowledge the heroism of this young man,” says Ash.

Ash specifically named Stanley’s courage on the morning of June 12. Stanley saved seven lives of fellow club-goers by confronting the gunman. He was shot three times.

Ash says “I didn’t know him personally, but I’ve been told that he was an outgoing, positive young man. We want to honor his memory.”

The proclamation will be received at the city council meeting by Stanley’s family.
