North Carolina files lawsuit against the federal government over HB2

The Associated Press is reporting North Carolina filed a lawsuit against the federal government May 9, today, over the state’s anti-LGBT law, HB2.

The Justice Department last week told North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory to explain how they will not enforce or implement the law because it violates the federal Civil Rights Act. McCrory, meanwhile, had his ass handed to him on FOX News (of all places) this weekend. We’ve included the video below. McCrory called the demand to have the law addressed by this afternoon “unrealistic” to host Chris Wallace. He also said, “I’m looking at all my options.” Well, apparently he’s taking the taxpayer-funded litigious one, standing on semantics about “gender identity” and WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? We’d tell you what it means, Pat, but you probably wouldn’t understand. Are there dumb people bathrooms?

“Why not just let it go if there’s not a case?” Wallace pegs McCrory.

Then the governor goes on to blame the “liberal Democratic Party” for creating a tempest in a teapot. Um, you signed the law.
