Spanish club Rayo to support charities with jersey sales

MADRID (AP) – Spanish football club Rayo Vallecano says it will donate to charitable causes such as ones fighting cancer and sexual discrimination for each of its away jerseys sold this season.

The Madrid-based club’s first away jersey will feature a diagonal rainbow-colored band, with each color representing one of seven charitable causes the club will donate a euro to for each jersey sold.

The seven charitable causes are environmental protection, the fight against HIV-AIDS, sexual discrimination, child abuse, gender-based violence, discrimination for disabilities, and to “never lose hope.”

Rayo will also donate five euros to the fight against cancer for every purchase of its second away jersey, which sports a diagonal pink band.
