LGBT supporters celebrate Boston Pride

BOSTON (AP) – Organizers say thousands of people marched and thousand more watched as the 45th annual Boston Pride Parade stepped off in the city.

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh began the parade at noon on Saturday by cutting a rainbow ribbon at Copley Plaza.

The parade wrapped up at City Hall Plaza, where a festival was held.

A number of public officials took part in the festivities including Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey, the nation’s first openly gay attorney general.
