Grindr screenshots reveal anti-gay pastor not who he claims

Midland, MI- Pastor Matthew Makela told LGBT entertainment website Queerty that he had resigned from his position at St. John’s Lutheran Church after screenshots of his “extracurricular activities” were leaked to the web May 18.

Makela made headlines in March when he posted about a transgender woman using gym facilities on his Facebook.

“The transgender movement is going to assist opportune sickos in preying upon children and others,” said Makela. “How can business owners and authorities prove who is man who identities as a women vs. a man who wants to prey upon women in their restroom or locker room?”

Makela had been an Pastor at the church since 2010, voicing his anti-gay opinion to his community, even going as far as suggesting homosexuality is disease akin to alcoholism.

“We don’t tell a person born with tendencies to abuse alcohol to keep on giving in to his innate desires because he can’t help it,” said Makela on social media in November. “We try to help him in his struggle.”

If homosexuality is a disease, Makela seems to have a persistent case, for his recent screenshots obtained from Queerty revealed Makela was soliciting sex from men on the app Grindr.

The screenshots show Makela’s replies to another man includeing how he “likes to cuddle” and “loves making out naked”, but has a girlfriend so “overnights are off limits.”

The married father of five, who’s profile on the churches website claimed he is “devoted to his faith and family” confirmed to Queerty the screenshots were authentic, but declined to comment.
