The familiar Hamburger Mary’s in Ybor City was anything but on March 26 as it was transformed into a prideful reception hall, complete with rainbow draperies, a red carpet and exquisite food. The transformation was in honor of Tampa Pride’s VIPs and sponsors, who celebrated the LGBT festival’s scheduled March 28 return. Several dignitaries spoke, including Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor, Tampa Pride president Carrie West and newly elected Tampa City Councilmember Guido Maniscalco.
