For the first time in our history, we asked our readers to vote for their favorites in the Watermark Awards for Variety and Excellence (WAVE) in the spring, rather than the fall. And once again, you did not disappoint with your participation.
Votes rolled in from across Central Florida through two rounds of balloting. In January, we asked for nominations. In February, we compiled those nominations, condensed them to a “Top 3” listing and asked you to vote again. We’re pleased to share those results on the following pages.
We shifted this annual tradition from November to March to give everyone who made a contribution to our community in the entire calendar year of 2014 a chance to be honored.
The new time frame also allows us to celebrate within the traditional awards season (True, we’re not the Oscars or the Grammys, but we’re dang proud of our winners just the same.).
There are many reasons to have pride in our local LGBT communities, and these pages showcase just a few of those shining examples.
So please join us in congratulating all of our winners listed in the 2015 WAVEs. Regardless of where they placed, their contributions are immeasurable. And for that, we are truly thankful.
