Bondi will not file brief in SCOTUS marriage case

Tallahassee – Florida’s attorney general will not file a brief in the U.S. Supreme Court case that is likely to settle the marriage equality issue nationwide.

Pam Bondi told media at the Associated Press’ legislative planning session late January that they’re “holding off” and “reviewing” the possibility of an amicus brief in the case defending Florida’s now-overturned ban on same-sex marriage.

However, on Jan. 30, Bondi’s office announced that they would not file any such brief.

Her office is still defending the same-sex marriage ban in a case at the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeal in Atlanta that is fighting to overturn a federal judge’s ruling that Florida’s ban was unconstitutional.
