Watermark’s 2014 Orlando Fringe Reviews: Taking Out the White Trash

Sherri Sutton is a loud and upfront lesbian comedian who demonstrates cultural stereotypes in a funny and entertaining way, not leaving any one out of her criticisms. She is quick to keep moving, always keeping the crowd alert and laughing from start to finish.

Already well known for her show Don’t Make Fun of Jesus, Sutton returns to Orlando Fringe with Taking Out the White Trash, where she discusses being raised in Savannah, Ga. and what happens when you grow up with heavy “white trash” influences

Sutton’s Southern, pseudo white trash upbringing has given her insight beyond rednecks, as she demonstrates the bigotry and stupidity reserved for white trash. Her comments on Southern life remind us that at one point or another we all have dipped our toe to test the waters of the trashy lifestyle — even if it was that visit to Waffle House past midnight at one point.

No topic is too touchy as Sutton mentions religion, the KKK, the Bible, politics and how it all comes together to form a big pile of white trash.
