Watermark’s 2014 Orlando Fringe Reviews: Genie and Audrey’s Dream Show

Genie Cartier and Audrey Spinazola are San Francisco performers who just want to be silly and give the audience a good laugh in their Fringe show Genie and Audrey’s Dream Show — no matter what age the audience may be.

The show opens with Cartier playing an accordion and popping bubbles in the air. Spinazola engages the audience by blowing bubbles at them, allowing for the audience to join in on the fun. With every pop of a bubble, Cartier strikes a note on the accordion. The show is very interactive and makes you feel like you’re part of it.

After chasing each other around on stage, it’s time for slumber. Their subconscious world or “dream world” involves circus acts such as acrobatics, juggling, dance and music, which makes for a great entertaining show.

And the pair makes it seem like all these talents just come naturally to them, until you read their bios. According to their biographies, Cartier started training as an acrobat at the age of six, while Spinazola wished to become a clown. The two are perfect partners in crime and bring you back to childhood where you can make-believe that anything is possible, even dancing cats.

Their crazy imagination has the duo playing different characters at random times throughout the show. At one point, they are having a cowboy shootout and next thing you know, they are Titanic’s most iconic couple Rose and Jack.

They are last year’s Fringe winners of “Best of Fringe” and “Sold Out” in San Francisco. They also won “Fringe Crush” at San Diego’s Fringe 2013.

The show is fun for the whole family, or if you just want to go to a show that’ll give you a good laugh. You can find these two clowning around during the rest of Fringe in the Purple Venue.
