Watermark’s 2014 Orlando Fringe Reviews: Deranged Dating

Shirley Kirchmann, a Canadian Fringe award-winner and stand-up comic, takes the stage by exposing her hopeless dating life in the show Deranged Dating.

Kirchmann’s one-woman show opens with her stating how being single just sucks and trying to get a man isn’t that simple. With the help of a professional matchmaker, Kirchmann seeks out men through her and online dating.
But it almost seems impossible to find a man that’s husband material who will not send her penis pictures. She has gone through going on dates with the worst bachelors, who turn out to be married or actually take their mom on the date with them.

Adding to the already present pressures of society about dating, her mom reminds her how Kirchmann is 35 years old and when her mom was in her 20s, she already had children.

Kirchmann tries to spice things up and decides to go clubbing, but the men inside the club are all focused on the sexy, young teenage girls.

Will Kirchmann ever find her Prince Charming? Will she get her happy ending? You’ll have to go see for yourself at the Brown Venue.
